Geo blasphemy: Lawyers observes strike on Punjab Bar Council's appeal
A large number of lawyets participated in the protest rallies.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Lawyers are observing strike today (Monday) on Punjab Bar Council’s appeal to protest against Geo TV for airing blasphemous content during its morning show last week.
Lawyers have boycotted proceedings in session court, district court and local court in Lahore’s Model Town area.
A large number of lawyets participated in the protest rallies, demanding immediately suspension of Geo TV’s transmissions as it had badly hurt the sentiments of Muslims.
All the schools of thought condemned Geo TV soon after the controversial program “Utho Jago Pakistan” was aired.
Various religious scholars termed the show as ‘blasphemous’, and called for a permanent ban on Geo’s transmission.
