Eight suspected terrorists arrested in Lahore

Police says the gang was plotting to attack VIPs in the provincial capital.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – An eight-member suspected target killers gang was arrested here on Friday.

Addressing a press conference, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) CCPO Lahore Chaudhry Shafique, a gang was planning organised plot of terrorism to sabotage law and order situation in the city.

He said that a police warden Muhammad Azam was arrested on a tipoff. The accused during the interrogation revealed that the eight-member gang including activist of a banned outfit Shaifique Shah had collected details about 39 important personalities and were planning to carry out the attacks.

According to Chaudhry Shafique, the accused were being interrogated and more revelation is expected.

Responding to a question regarding application against a private TV channel, the CCPO said that the action would be taken against as according to the law.

Meanwhile, police also recovered suicide vests, explosive materials and weapons.
