PPP's Sania Baloch represented Baloch group whereas Ladla was represented by Sarbazi, Baba Umeed.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Qaumi Awami Tehrik (QAT) Chief Ayaz Latif Palijo claimed to have made peace between the two gangster groups – who are responsible for bloodshed of countless people – in a bid to end years old gang-war that has disturbed the safety of Lyari, Dunya News reported.
Karachi’s ignored town Lyari was bathed in bloodshed yet again on the morning of March 12. As many as 17 innocent persons including 10 women and 4 children were gunned down in a ruthless clash between the notorious Baba Ladla and Uzair Jan Baloch groups.
It is widely believed that Lyari is ruled by these gangsters and that many politicians have been supervising the gang-wars. However, when the clash between the two groups became widespread, QAT Chief held a meeting between the representatives of both gangster groups at his house in Hyderabad.
Uzair Jan Baloch group was represented by Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Sania Naz Baloch whereas the opponent group Baba Ladla was represented by Majid Sarbazi and Baba Umeed Ali.
Following a five-hour-long session, Lyari gangsters announced ceasefire. QAT Chief Ayaz Palijo told the press that both groups have made peace by giving up conflicts and that Baba Ladla has endorsed the ceasefire decision.
Ayaz Palijo also formed ‘Lyari Aman Ittehad Committee’ literally Lyari Peace Unity Committee adding that this committee will hear the complaints against the violations of the ceasefire.
QAT Chief also appealed to all those who had relocated from Lyari to come back promising they will be given protection. He also demanded of the government to compensate the relatives of victims by Rs. 20 lakh each.
Lyari has been witnessing bloodshed as a result of years-old gang-war and the law enforcement institutions seemed absolutely puzzled and helpless to bring an end to it. The gangsters used Facebook among other modern techniques to organize and execute their activities.
