Treason trial: Musharraf's counsel Rana Ijaz barred from entering court

Summary The bench has summoned the head of an intelligence agency who warned of attack on Musharraf.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - A three-member bench of the Special Court headed by Justice Faisal Arab resumed the hearing of Musharraf treason case.

The bench called the joint secretary Interior on rostrum and directed him that the chief of an intelligence agency, who warned of a possible attack on former president Pervez Musharraf, should appear before the bench on Thursday.

In his remarks, Justice Faisal Arab said that the chief of the intelligence agency should brief the bench in the chamber on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the security officials stopped Rana Ijaz, one of the lawyers of Pervez Musharraf, from entering the court compound.

Rana Ijaz was stopped on the written directions of Registrar Abdul Ghani Somro.

It is to mention here that judge of the special court Justice Faisal Arab had ordered Rana Ijaz to leave the courtroom on Tuesday after exchange of harsh words.

Talking to media outside the court premises, Rana Ijaz said that he was asked to tender an apology and was not served any contempt notice by the court. He said that he would never apologize even if he was arrested.

On the other hand, the special court has handed over the issue of Rana Ijaz to Punjab Bar Council and Pakistan Bar Council.
