Summary Government intends to complete next phase of talks successfully, Ch Nisar said.
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that new committee to hold talks with the Taliban will be announced within two days, Dunya News reported on Tuesday.
During a telephonic conversation with the Taliban negotiator Maulana Samiul Haq, Chaudhry NIsar said the government is consulting with Pak Army, Imran Khan and other political leaders for formation of the committee.
The Interior Minister urged Maulana Samiul Haq to play his role in extension of ceasefire deadline.
The government intends to complete next phase of talks successfully, he added.
Maulana Samiul Haq said that country’s situation has improved due to the dialogue process.
Dialogue aimed at ending the militants’ 7-year insurgency that has claimed thousands of lives resumed last following a two-week suspension after terrorists killed 23 kidnapped soldiers.
The military retaliated with a series of airstrikes that it said killed more than 100 militants, and the Taliban last weekend announced a month-long cease-fire.
But negotiations have so far been conducted through teams of go-betweens, which some observers say has hampered their effectiveness.
The peace talks, which began in February, were a key campaign pledge for PM Nawaz Sharif before he was elected to office for a third time last year.
