Supreme Court has issued a notice to the federal government and other parties regarding delay in judges appointment, besides seeking complete record of the case on February 18.A bench comprising Justice Mian Shakir Ali Jan and Justice Rehmat Hussain Jafri heard three constitutional petitions in which delay in judges appointment was challenged. Advocate Akram Sheikh, counsel of a petitioner, has argued that the government was bound to fill the vacant apex court seats within 30 days, adding that the inordinate delay was aimed at paralyzing the judiciary.Wattan Partys advocate Barrister Zafarullah argued that the promotion should be based on seniority.The bench has also sent a request to form a larger bench to hear the said cases to the Chief Justice, while the federal government was directed to submit its reply in the court before the next hearing.
