Taliban talks: New govt committee recommended, army should be on driving seat, says Major Amir

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Members of the government negotiating committee, constituted to hold peace talks with the Taliban, have recommended to dissolve the current body.

According to sources, the members of the government committee are not very hopeful about peace talks since they are not provided adequate information and facilities that are required for the dialogue process.

Meanwhile, former ISI officer Major retired Amir expressed no-confidence over the negotiating committee.

He said the army should be on driving seat, questioning as to how can the committee takes all decisions when the army was fighting against the militants.

He said there was involvement of Indians and Afghanis in banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) decisions.

According to sources, recommendations have been given to form new government committee that will hold peace talks with the Taliban negotiators.

The new committee will include government and army officers, the sources added.
