Summary The meeting of government and Taliban negotiators will be held in Dera Ismail Khan.

DERA ISMAIL KHAN (Dunya News) – The government and the Taliban negotiating committees will hold a meeting on Wednesday following the announcement of ceasefire from both sides.

The key session, to be held at Maulana Samiul Haq’s madrassah in Dera Ismail Khan, will discuss the future course today.

According to sources, the government negotiators are likely to discuss the prospect of direct talks with Taliban.

Earlier on Tuesday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif met with the government peace committee formed for talks with Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The meeting discussed the situation emerging in the wake of the ceasefire declaration from both sides.

Prime Minister Sharif directed the committee to continue consultations and it was decided that a meeting with the committee nominated by the Taliban will be held in the next few days.

The committee also presented proposals regarding the next step in the dialogue process with militants.

Participants of the meeting agreed that attacks such as the one on a court in Islamabad are harmful for the dialogue process.

All four members of the government committee — Irfan Siddiqui, Rahimullah Yousufzai, Rustam Shah Mohmand and Major Amir — attended the meeting.

The meeting held a day after a gun and bomb attack on the district courts in the heart of Islamabad left 11 people, including an additional district and sessions judge, dead.

The TTP dissociated itself from Monday’s attack which was later claimed by Ahrarul Hind, a lesser-known splinter group of the TTP. The group had recently parted ways with the TTP over holding of talks with the government.
