ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – National Assembly has formed a seven member committee on Tuesday to probe allegations leveled against parliamentarians by member Jamshed Dasti, Dunya News reported. The committee is due to present its finding in fifteen days.
During national assembly’s session, Zahid Hamid proposed a committee consisting seven assembly members to probe the allegations and was unanimously approved by the house.
The committee comprises of Imran Zafar Laghari, Arif Alvi, Rohail Asghar, Mian Manan, Shahida Akhtar Ali, Sohail Mansoor and Kazim Ali Shah. The committee will present its findings in fifteen days.
Earlier, a petition was filed in Supreme Court seeking the investigations into Dasti’s allegations and disqualification of the alleged members of the house.
Petition was filed by one Mehmood Akhtar Naqvi who requested the court to direct concerned authorities to probe Jamshed Dasti’s allegation.
He pleased that parliamentarians attending drinking and dancing parties at parliamentary lodges should be disqualified.
The petitioner also requested the court to summon Jamshed Dasti and the evidence be presented in the court.
Speaker National Assembly, Chairman Senate, Interior Secretary and Election Commission of Pakistan have been made respondents in the petition.
Earlier on Monday, Dasti handed over video evidence to NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq in order to prove his allegations.
Jamshed Dasti provided the evidence videos comprising of 4 clips of relatives of different parliamentarians who were allegedly busy in questionable activities in the parliament lodges.
Dasti had accused parliamentarians of engaging in ‘immoral’ activities in parliament lodges; the specifics of which, according to Dasti are dancing women and alcohol parties being held in the lodges.
