LAHORE (Web Desk) – Taking notice of the celebratory gunfire after victory of PML-N candidate in Jhang by-election, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has suspended Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Station House Officer (SHO) of the area, Dunya News reported.
The Chief Minister chaired a high level meeting in Lahore on Tuesday to review law and order situation of Punjab.
Some armed men resorted to aerial gunfire in celebration after ruling party candidate Muhammad Khan Baloch won the PP-81 by-election, defeating his nearest rival PTI s Rai Tamoor Bhatti by a margin of 6,289 votes.
CM Shahbaz directed the IG Punjab to arrest all those involved in the firing incident.
He said ensuring law and order is government’s top priority, adding that country will only progress if there is peace.
The Chief Minister stated that whole nation must unite on one platform to eliminate terrorism from country’s soil.
Law enforcement agencies must utilize their efforts to ensure law and order, he said.
