Ghazi murder case: Musharraf exempted from court appearance

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The additional session judge has granted former president Pervez Musharraf exemption from appearing before the court in Ghazi Abdur Rasheed murder case.

Additional session judge Wajid Ali heard the case pertaining to the murder of Lal Masjid cleric Ghazi Abdur Rasheed on Saturday.

During the course of proceedings, advocate Tariq Asad apprised the court that advocate Anwar Mansoor had assured special court of Musharraf’s attendance on February 18, adding that a debate on exemption plea wasn’t required then.

He said the session court should wait till Musharraf’s appearance before special court in treason case.

Meanwhile, advocate Ilyas Siddiqi said the nature of exemption plea filed at apex court was different, adding that he will present his arguments against Musharraf s permanent exemption in next hearing. 

Accepting the plea of Musharraf, the court granted exemption to the retired general and adjourned the hearing till February 15.

The next hearing will be held over the plea seeking permanent exemption of Musharraf from court appearances.
