Summary Schedule of trains was disrupted following Tuesday night's explosion.
KARACHI (Web Desk) - Rail traffic from Karachi to other parts of the country was restored on Thursday as engineers and technical staff battled for 36 hours to repair the railway track and clear wreckage following a powerful bomb blast on Tuesday night, Dunya News reported.
A powerful explosion on a railway track had derailed nine carriages of a passenger train near Karachi, killing a baby and injuring a dozen people.
The attacks come at a time when the country is grappling with a growing wave of violence and militancy.
The banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan had distanced themselves from the blast, with militant spokesman Shahidullah Shahid adding that none of their affiliates were behind the attack.
Thousands of people have lost their lives in bombings and other militant attacks in Pakistan since 2001, when Islamabad entered an alliance with Washington in the so-called war on terror.
