Summary Fazlur Rehman says the government has not taken the JUI-F into confidence on the peace talks.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Monday said that his party would not join the peace committee proposed by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to hold talks with the government.

Addressing a press conference after the meeting of JUI-F Core Committee, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that neither Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif took his party into confidence nor he was consulted on the issue of peace talks with Taliban.

He said that the government had assured complete cooperation to the Grand Jirga held on February 28, 2013 but the promises were not fulfilled ahead of recent peace talks process.

Fazl said that the JUI-F would not become the part of peace process, however it would completely support the dialogue with Taliban. He said the JUI-F would consider if the government sought its cooperation.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that Mufti Kifayatullah’s name was proposed by Taliban with sincerity and good intention however he was bound to follow the party discipline and would not join the peace committee.

He said that the JUI-F was not expressing concerns over the formation of committees but was explaining its position.
The JUI-F chief said his party has its clear stance and he would pray for the success of the dialogue.

Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) also announced that Imran Khan would not join the dialogue committee proposed by Taliban.

It is to mention here that Tehreek-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Sunday announced a five-member negotiation committee comprising Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam- Sami (JUI-S) chief Maulana Samiul Haq, Mufti Kifayatullah of JUI-F, Lal Masji cleric Maulana Abdul Aziz and Professor Ibrahim of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) to negotiate with the government.
