ISLAMABAD (Dunya News): Addressing a conference in the capital, Jamaat Islami chief Munawar Hasan reinforced the idea that Osama Bin Laden is a ‘martyr’; claiming that he has done something which even governments and armies couldn’t do. Bin Laden is embedded in the hearts of young population, he claimed.
Jamaat Islami chief said he sees Bin Laden as a martyr because he kept engaging US and NATO forces for which he deserves the credit. He went on to ask that on what basis the Afghans should have handed over Bin Laden to the US when he was never tried or convicted.
Munawar Hasan reinforced his claim that what Osama Bin Laden pulled off is something even governments and armies couldn’t do. Hasan paid deep respect and tributes to Bin Laden claiming he has got a special place in the hearts of young generation”.
Jamaat Islami chief Syed Munawar Hasan had said, Tuesday, that people like Osama Bin Laden, the former Al Qaeda chief, do not die and stay alive in people’s hearts.
Munawar Hasan was addressing a seminar in Islamabad where he made the remarks remembering Al Qaeda chief.
JI chief further said that the killing of Bin Laden was lauded by 60% of the world and yet they are afraid of another Bin Laden when the NATO troops withdraw from Afghanistan.
Jamaat Islami chief often comes under criticism with his controversial statements. Only last year he had attracted a considerable amount of backlash for calling former Taliban commander Hakimullah Mehsud a martyr and had questioned the martyrdom of Pakistan’s armed forces saying they align with the ‘enemy’. The statement was criticized by every circle including by the Pakistan Army through a press statement issued by ISPR.
