Summary The move has come amidst the security concerns for polio workers in Karachi.

KARACHI: (Dunya News) – In a meeting chaired by Commissioner Karachi, it was decided, Friday, that the polio drive will take place without publicizing it. The session was attended by all five Deputy Commissioners from all over Karachi where it was decided that the polio drive will take place at all cost however it will remain unadvertised. With regards to the designated day, it was decided that the polio drive will not take place across the city on the same day; instead, the timings and days will vary for each area. The session also approved the proposed ‘Plan B’ according to with all areas will be considered equally important with regards to security situation.
Polio drive in Sindh came to a halt when health workers announced to boycott it following the target killing of 3 workers.
Terrorists have been targeting polio workers in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh province. Following the attack in Karachi, the Sindh government had assured steps will be taken to protect the health workers and vowed to continue the polio drive. Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) patron Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had asked to wipe out the terrorists who target the polio workers.
Karachi police had proposed a ‘Plan B’ to provide security to the health workers claiming the new strategy will help farther the security.
