Summary Anti terrorism court has sent the 'broken heart' man to jail on 14-day judicial remand.
LAHORE: (Dunya News) – Qila Gujar Singh police station produced the suspect Kamran before court on Saturday and after listening to the charges, he was sent to jail on 14-day judicial remand. The police submitted that the investigation has been completed and as per their findings, the suspect had staged the drama to grab the attention of the woman. Police also said that a pistol and bullets were recovered from his possession and that the suspect is over his ‘ghost of love’.
The suspect who had no aid or legal representation, rejected police’s stance saying that the police went about with the investigation in their own way and that he is not over with the love affair. It is of importance to mention here that the suspect was representing himself in the court and had no aid either from the family or friends.
After hearing the police’s version, Kamran was sent to prison on 14-day judicial remand until further hearing of the case. Meanwhile, the police investigation has discovered that the suspect was wanted by police on other cases, adding that he is booked for at least five cases at various police stations in the city.
According to police, Kamran had married three years ago but his wife had divorced him. Talking about the illegal weapon, police said that the suspect had purchased it from an illegal vendor near Gawalmandi area of Lahore and that police is trying to arrest him.
Police had successfully apprehended an armed man who threatened to kill himself outside the Police Lines building, Lahore, on Friday. The man had a rather unusual demand that is to marry a woman who as he claims works at the Police Lines and had broken up with him after dating for 2 years.
Kamran claimed to be a textile worker who had a ‘broken heart’ after the woman he claims to be dating for 2 years broke up with him. “I am a textile engineer and this woman is the love of my love but his father doesn’t want us to marry” he said while talking to Dunya News. “They have relocated and the woman won’t return any of my calls which is why I have resorted to this attempt. I realize what I did was wrong but then what’s unfair in love?”
Police had taken the man into custody and locked him up. During apprehension, the gun went off accidently but no one was harmed. Earlier, the man had also fired in the air a number of times.
The incident is being compared to the one in Islamabad last year where a man named Sikandar held Jinnah Avenue hostage for at least 5 hours demanding the “Sharia” to be implemented. Unlike that, Kamran’s scene lasted only a few minutes after which he was apprehended by the police in the drop scene.
