Transfers, postings of police officers may affect Karachi operation

Dunya News

The Sindh govt has made transfers and postings of several police officers without due consultation.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – According to the sources, the transfers and posting of police officers may affect targeted operation in the city.

Sources told Dunya News that a three-member committee comprising DG Rangers, Sindh IG and CCPO was formed to review the transfers and postings of police officers in Karachi.

The sources added that the Sindh government ignored recommendations of the committee and made transfers and postings of several police offices in the city.

The sources further said that the reshuffle of police officers without proper consultation can affect the targeted operation in Karachi.

They added that the Sindh government wants to transfer Abdul Khalik Sheikh, Shahbaz Sheikh and Khawaja Sultan.

Rangers and police are carrying out joint targeted operation in Karachi against the terrorists, extortionists and other criminal elements.

In September 2013, the federal government has decided to carry out immediate targeted operation against terrorists, extortionists, target killers and criminals in Karachi.

It was decided in a special federal cabinet meeting that the operation would be carried out by the empowered Rangers, with assistance of Sindh Police and federal intelligence agencies.

The immediate action would be "free of all sort of political compromises" and will be daily monitored by a committee under CM Sindh and having representation of federal Interior Ministry, Intelligence agencies and NARA, the cabinet had decided.
