Funeral prayer of MWM leader Allama Nasir Abbas offered in Lahore
Unknown assailants attacked vehicle of Allama Nasir Abbas in Shadman, Lahore on Sunday night.
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Funeral prayer of Majlis-e-Wahdatul Muslimeen leader Allama Nasir Abbas was offered outside the Governor House here on Monday.
The funeral prayer was led by Syed Hussain Ali Qami while hundreds people participated in the prayer offered on road.
Later, dead body of the Shia leader was shifted to his native city of Multan by a helicopter.
Earlier, the sit-in against the killing of Majlis-e-Wahdatul Muslimeen leader Allama Nasir Abbas continued outside Governor House in Lahore on Monday while the body was shifted to dead house for autopsy after successful talks with the administration.
Unknown assailants attacked vehicle of Allama Nasir Abbas in Shadman on Sunday night and opened discriminate firing. Allama Nasir Abbas was taken to the Sheikh Zayed Hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
Followers of Allama Nasir protested against his brutal killing outside Governor House with his body. The protesters demanded to sack Punjab Law minister Rana Sanaullah and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar while crackdown on banned outfits should be launched.
The Majlis-e-Wahdatul Muslimeen activists held talks with the police and allowed to shift the body for postmortem. FIR had been registered against two unknown people.
Meanwhile, Tahafuz-e-Azadari Council announced to observe three-day mourning against the murder of Allama Nasir Abbas.
Taking notice of the incident, Punjab Governor Muhammad Sarwar summoned report from Punjab IG.
MQM chief Altaf Hussain, Balochistan shia conference and Majlis-e-Wahdatul Muslimeen strongly condemned the incident.
This incident took place nine days after a Sunni cleric Maulana Shamsur Rehman Muaiya was killed in similar way in same city of Lahore.
This was third high profile sectarian target killing during a month as a Shia leader was shot dead in Karachi earlier this month.
