Lawyers must avoid highhandedness: Shami
Noted analyst Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami criticizes lawyers for hooliganism in the Supreme Court.
Lahore (Dunya News) - In Dunya TV’s programme Nuqta Nazar, noted journalist Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami said it was not the job of the Chief Justice to form High Court bench in any city.
While discussing the issue in the programme he opined although the demand for the establishment of High Court benches carries weight but forcing one’s way into the court premises was uncalled for. Lawyers’ organizations can raise their voices in favour of their demands but use of force was not justified, he added.
He also said the the letter written by the KPK CM to the PM demanding halt in NATO supplies was a right course of action but the supplies cannot be halted before convening a meeting in this regard. If Iran offers an alternative route for NATO, supplies, it will not augur well for Pakistan, he opined.
The issue of missing persons is quite complicated it could have significant fallout, he concluded.
