Summary Seeking delay in LB polls PPP and ANP leaders say haste in holding of polls can backfire.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Pakistan People’s Party and Awami National Party have announced to join hands in the upcoming Local Bodies elections.

Addressing a press conference here PPP leaders Qadir Patel said the two parties have in principal agreed on seat adjustment in the polls.

Qadir said there was a close rapport between the workers of the two parties on grass root level.

“PPP and ANP share common stance on many national issues,” he said.

On the occasion, PPP Senator Saeed Ghani said LB polls should be delayed and elections should be held after proper preparations.

Saeed Ghani said that Election Commission had the mandate to delay the polls.

To a question, Patel said that LG elections have become a story, which is beyond one’s understanding. Nothing has been completed from delimitation of constituencies to printing of ballot papers, he added.

ANP leader Liaquat Advocate said that PPP and ANP remained coalition partners for five years. “The alliance of our two parties is natural,” he said.
 

Meanwhile, Opposition leader Syed Khurshid Shah ha ssaid that LB elections if held in haste could prove disastrous.

The Pakistan People’s Party has contacted Awami National Party for an alliance during forthcoming local bodies elections in Sindh, media quoting sources reported on Sunday.

Sindh chief minister Qaim Ali Shah made an offer to ANP’s Sindh president senator Shahi Syed to form alliance during the LG elections over telephone.

Following the PPP’s offer, the ANP called a party session at Mardan House for consultation.

According to sources, a delegation of PPP will also make a visit to Mardan House to meet ANP leaders.
