Hafiz Saeed urges govt to block NATO supply
Says Nawaz Sharif must order to shoot down the US drones, appeals to Taliban to hold peace talks.
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Jamaat-ud-Dawa on Friday staged protest rallies in different cities against the US drone strikes.
Addressing a rally outside Lahore Press Club, Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed said that the US drone attacks had sabotaged peace process.
He said drone strikes started right after the return of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from his US visit. He urged the PM to direct to shoot down the US drones.
Expressing support for PTI’s announcement of blocking NATO supply, Hafiz Saeed said that the supply should also be blocked at Chaman border.
Talking exclusively to Dunya News, Hafiz Saeed said it was responsibility of the government to create atmosphere for process of peace talks with Taliban. He also appealed to the Taliban to participate in the peace process. The participants of the rally shouted slogans against drone strikes and the US.
Meanwhile, protest rally against the drone strikes was also held in Islamabad. The speakers said that the US had started an unannounced war in Pakistan. The protesters demanded of the government to end the drone attacks and quit the so-called US war against terrorism.
Jamaat-ud-Dawa also staged protest rallies in Gujranwala. The participants were carrying banners and placards with anti-America slogans.
A protest rally was also held by Jamaat-ud-Dawa in Quetta where JUI-S activists also participated in the demonstration. The protesters termed the US drone strikes as violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty.
