Summary Letter to interior ministry says the ban was necessary for success of ongoing operation.

KARACHI (Web Desk) - Home department Sindh has formally requested the interior ministry for slapping ban on skype, viber, Whats App, Tango and other net works.

Sources said that the home department Sindh in a letter addressed to interior ministry has said that terrorists are now using viber, Skype, Tango, Whats App and other networks through internet service instead of telephones and mobile phones for the purpose of contacts, therefore, ban be imposed on these networks.

Sindh government has further said in the letter that these networks be banned to make ongoing targeted operation in Karachi a success.

It may be recalled that decision was taken to impose ban for three months on these networks in a meeting held under chief minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah.

In his reaction to this move, interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan while expressing his ignorance from this decision had said that no decision for banning these networks has been taken so far.

However if any request comes from government of Sindh then it will be seen how much weight the plea from provincial government carries, he added.
