Summary Six personnel have so far been killed in militant attacks on troops engaged in relief operation.
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Pakistan Army will continue its relief work in Balochistan s earthquake-affected areas despite unabated attacks by the miscreants‚ says a press release issued by the ISPR Friday.
Miscreants fired on Army troops twice on Friday in Dandar area in Kech District‚ said the statement. "Yesterday (Thursday) miscreants carried out five attacks on troops engaged in relief activities in Mashkeh area. DG ISPR said that during the last week miscreants have targeted troops‚ security forces convoys and even helicopters busy in relief works several times. Six security forces personnel have embraced shahadat in these attacks and 6 others sustained injuries."
Condemning these attacks‚ DG ISPR reiterated that security forces will continue relief work in affected areas irrespective of any security hazards and all efforts will be utilized to provide relief to our brethren in distress.
Over 2000 troops‚ 14 helicopters and 2 C-130 aircraft of PAF are participating in relief work in Awaran. 134 sorties of helicopters have flown till date to affected areas for transportation of relief items and evacuation of the injured persons.
A total of 962 tons of ration has been distributed so far. Transportation of relief goods is in progress and more than 370 tons of relief goods to include tents‚ blankets water and food items have reached earthquake affected areas which will be distributed among affectees in next couple of days. He said 811 tons of relief goods are en route from Karachi and Quetta via Bela and Khuzdar.
DG ISPR said Doctors and Para Medics are providing medical treatment to the injured in Mushkai‚ Khuzdar and Awaran. In order to facilitate local population‚ small medical teams have been formed and sent to affected areas to provide an urgent relief to the affectees in Ghusnak‚ Labash and Parwar areas. Besides shifting the injured to Karachi and Quetta‚ more than 2000 patients have been provided medical relief so far in the area.
