Summary Advocate Latif Khosa said that the court should not follow the British procedure code.

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) - Anti Terrorism Court has rejected the petition filed by the PPP which has opposed re-hearing of Benazir murder case.

ATC judge Habibur Rehman resumed hearing of the Benazir murder case today (Tuesday).

During case proceedings, Advocate Latif Khosa argued on part of the PPP and opposed re-hearing of the said case.

He argued that the court has recorded the statements of 24 witnesses and that is enough to keep the case in running order.

Furthering his statement, Khosa said that the court should not follow the British procedure code.

Quoting a reference from his career as Attorney General, he contended that people in Malakand used to praise for the judicial system set by Taliban who used to settle the dispute within three days while the situation here is totally different.

“Courts find them unable to resolve the disputes even after 20 years; that is why people have started hating the current judicial system. It is our duty to come out and change the outdate system for delivery of justice”, said Khosa.

In another case, the petitioner Anwarul Haque said that former president Pervez Musharraf can’t be put on trial under the article 248 of the constitution. Khosa stood against the plea and was of the view that Supreme Court’s judgments should be kept in view while demanding any relief in this regard.

He added that Pervez Musharraf is already being tried in Akbar Bugti murder and judges detention cases.

After short verdict, the court rejected the PPP’s petition filed regarding re-hearing of the case.
