PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - A significant breakthrough has taken place regarding dialogue with Taliban.
According to the sources, a committee of Taliban has handed over 35 demands to a committee formed by the government of Pakistan. They have demanded that the government should devise a strategy to stop US drone attack.

It is worth mentioning here that the government held an All Parties Conference headed by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on September 9 to devise a national policy for getting rid of the menace of terrorism in the country.

According the copy of joint communiqué the APC unanimously agreed to initiate negotiations with the militant groups.

All the participants, representing the mainstream political parties, signed the joint comminique at the conclusion of the conference.

It had been agreed that government would start process of talks with the militants at the first stage. It was also agreed that the cooperation of religio-political parties would be sought to facilitate talks with various groups.

However, it was decided that action would be taken against those groups that refused to become the part of peace process.

The APC expressed the resolve to end extremism and terrorism from the country.

Regarding the drone attacks, APC declaration says that the matter would be taken up with the United Nations Security Council.

It was also agreed that federal government and provincial governments would coordinate in order to bring normalcy in Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The participants expressed full solidarity with the armed forces.

Prior to the meeting, Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan met at the Prime Minister’s Office.

Army Chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and ISI Chief Lt Gen Zaheerul Islam also attended the meeting besides.
On the other hand, Tehreek-e-Tliban had welcomed the declaration of APC.

Spokesman of banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Shahidullah Shahid said declaration passed by the All Parties Conference in Islamabad was a positive step.

He said TTP welcomed the offer of peace talks and a detailed and official reaction to the offer by Pakistan government would be given after the meeting of Taliban Shura.

The meeting of Majlis-e Shura has been called, he said.

“The APC declaration does not obstruct our objectives,” Shahiduallh said.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif came into office in June saying he supported talks instead of military operations to bring about peace.

The APC’s announcement gives him the political backing he wanted to try to negotiate with the militants.
