Chief Justice Lahore High has issued notices to federal and provincial governments and chairman NEPRA for January 21 against the petition filed by Jamat-e-Islami on the increase in electricity prices. Chief Justice Lahore High Court Khawaja Muhammad Sharif heard the petition. Jamat-e-Islami Punjabs leader Dr. Wasim Akhtar maintained that NEPRA dont have any legal authority to raise the electricity prices while this authority lies with provinces. He maintained that common man is already facing problems due to inflation. It is requested in the petition that electricity prices should be curtailed to give relief to the countrymen.
