Lahore High Court has asked to stop implementation of hike in urban transport fares. The LHC chief justice said that nobody would be allowed to fix own fairs. He asked the transporters to stop oppression of the poor. LHC chief justice Khawaja Muhammad Sharif took suo moto notice on Dunya News report about 50 percent increase on urban transport fares without government approval. Transport owners maintained today during the hearing that they are increasing the fares due to increase in petroleum products. On which, the Chief Justice remarked that transporters dont have authority to raise fares without governments approval. He constituted two-member bench for the hearing of the case on January 12.
