ISLAMABAD (APP) - As many as 1,161,245 tourists from inside and outside the country visited Pakistan’s various areas during 2012.
An official of Pakistan Tourism Development Authority (PTDC) said that around 906,818 tourists visited during 2010 while 966,277 tourists visited Pakistan’s various areas during 2011.
He said for some of the popular destinations, transport facility was made available to the tourists on commercial basis by tour operators. To a question he said according to 18th amendment, Ministry of Tourism has been devolved to provincial governments.
Assets of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) would be handed over to provincial governments soon, he added.
To a question, he said out of total tourists, four percent were AJK-origin foreign tourists. He said tourism in the country is badly affected due to incidents of terrorism.
