President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif, former President Pervez Musharraf, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and key political and social personalities have strongly condemned the blast at main procession of Ashura in Karachi on Monday, which caused loss of precious lives and injuries. City Nazim Karachi Syed Mustafa Kamal said the blast did not target a certain faction. It targeted the peace in Karachi.The President and the Prime Minister expressed their grief over the killing of innocent people and reiterated the governments resolve to fight terrorism and extremism till the complete elimination of this menace from the country.They ordered for the provision of immediate best medical facilities to the injured and ordered an immediate inquiry and the submission of report.The two leaders also appealed to the masses to remain peaceful.Prime Minister Gilani appealed to the religious and political leadership to help calm down the situation after the blast during the Ashura procession at Karachi.He also asked the workers to extend their maximum output towards the welfare of injured.Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain urged the mourners to maintain calm. Interior Minister Rehman Malik, while strongly condemning the incident, told that control of Karachi has been handed over to Rangers whereas the army has been put on high alert.Former President Pervez Musharraf prayed May Allah improve the law and order situation in Pakistan. He expressed grief over recent spate of terrorism incidents including Karachi and Muzaffarabad. Musharraf urged the kins of deceased citizens and security personnel to be patient.
