Summary Says govt trying to infringe upon rights of provinces over natural resources as per 18th Amend.
ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) - Leader of the opposition in National Assembly Syed Khurshid has said that adoption of one unit policy by federal government is dangerous and rights of smaller provinces could be violated by this.
Talking to media here he said that stability of federation rests in making provinces strong and government should avoid opening any Pandora’s Box and if any party wants to establish a factory then it should establish it where resources of fuel exist.
He said that after the 18th amendment provinces were given complete authority on natural resources, while present government is trying to limit these authorities.
Meanwhile, talking to media PPP leader Raza Rabbani said PML-N governemnt was planning to introduce amandments in the 18 Amendment inorder to curtail the powers of provinces.
Rabbani said according to the 18th Amendment the utilisation of natural resources was the prerogative of provinces and PPP and other Opposition parties would resist any move to usurp this right by the federal government.
According to sources Opposition parties have decided to raise the issue of Gas sharing formula in the parliament and it is expected that soon an adjournment motion will be submitted in national assembly and senate in this regard.
Opposition parties have shown serious concerns over the views of minister for petroleum in which said about over viewing the gas share formula, they have also decided to call an explanation from minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in this regard.
Sources also say that opposition parties from smaller provinces have started making contacts with one another to constitute a collective strategy on this issue.
