Contempt notice: SC directs Malik to submit explanation till Jan 24

Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik failed to submit written explanation against Supreme Courts contempt notice. The court has extended the deadline of submission to January 24, reported Dunya News on Thursday.During the hearing of Pakistan Steel Mills scam case, Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry inquired about written explanation from Rehman Malik. The interior minister said he wants to explain verbally. CJ remarked that he should follow judicial customs by submitting written explanation and also appear before the court in next hearing.CJ Iftikhar Chaudhry asked FIA officials why the accused in Steel Mills scam have not been apprehended yet despite the courts directions. Chief Justice remarked that first the case should be filed and prosecuted only then courts can give verdicts. Legal Director FIA told that four culprits have been detained.
