ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - All preparations are in place to elect country’s 12th President today as there is one-on-one contest between Pakistan Muslim League (N) candidate Mamnoon Hussain and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf nominee Wajhihuddin Ahmad.
The electoral college of the Presidential election consists of Senate‚ National Assembly and the four provincial assemblies. The election will be held through secret ballot. The polling will begin simultaneously at the parliament house and the four provincial assemblies at 10:00 am and end at 03:00 pm.
The Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court will preside over the polling process at the parliament house while the chief justices of the four provinces will preside over the process in the provincial assemblies. The legislators have been asked not to carry mobile phones or any other electronic device during the voting process.
The Election Commission has clarified that as per Presidential Election Rules‚ the voters for the Presidential Elections including members of the Senate‚ National Assembly and the Provincial Assemblies after receiving the ballot paper‚ are required to proceed to the place reserved for marking the ballot paper with a Cross-Mark against the name of a candidate of their choice and no other mark.
The Commission also clarified that that any sign like "Tick Mark" or "OK" on the ballot paper against the name of the candidate of the voter s choice is incorrect.
