ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The chief justice remarked that the court was well aware of the condition of inmates at different internment centres, adding that it had pictures of detainees being subjected to ill-treatment.
A three-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing the case pertaining to the missing persons on Friday.
During the course of hearing the additional attorney general Tariq Khokhar apprised the court that a policy over the missing persons will be soon formulated.
Meanwhile, the court was also told that the defence ministry has hired a lawyer over the case of Umer Baksh.
The CJP inquired as to why the ministry appointed a private lawyer when attorney general was assisting it in the case, adding that the defence ministry doesn't have confidence into attorney general’s office.
Later, the hearing was adjourned till Monday.
