ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - According to the Ministry of Water and Power‚ electricity shortfall has reached 3200 megawatts on Thursday.

 

The electricity demand stood at about 17,000MW against generation of about 13,800MW, an NTDC official said. 

 

IPPs are generating 6,335MW, hydel power sources 5,500MW and thermal plants are producing 1,900MW of electricity.

 

As per details, rural areas are facing load shedding for over 11 hours while urban areas are suffering up to 8 hours of power cuts.

 

Long and unannounced phases of load shedding has made lives of people miserable as prolonged outages have resulted in shortage of drinking water in several areas.
