Summary KESC has disconnected power supply to PSM for non-payment of Rs 930 million dues.

 

KARACHI (Dunya News) – According to a spokesman of Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) the power supply of Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) was disconnected on Wednesday due to non-payment of dues amounting to Rs 930 million.

 

A spokesman of PSM has termed the KESC step as unlawful. He said that under an agreement between the two institutions, the power supply of PSM cannot be disconnected.

 

The spokesman further informed that PSM will pay Rs 100 million out of Rs 930 million today (Thursday) to KESC.

 

Meanwhile, the power supply to the residential colony of PSM was also disconnected which sparked protests by the residents. The protesters also blocked the National Highway causing huge traffic jam.
