Summary The petition requested the court to add names of high officials involved in the case to ECL.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A plea seeking a contempt proceeding against President, former prime minister, ex-finance minister and secretary has been filed in Supreme Court over writing a second letter to Swiss officials.
The petition termed Zardari government’s second letter to Swiss authorities a fraud and blatant attempt to deceive the Supreme Court, adding that the President Zardari, the then PM Raja Pervez Ashraf, ex-finance minister Farooq H Naek and secretary Yasmeen Abbasi has attempted to ridicule the apex court and disdained court orders.
The petitioner requested the court to launch a contempt inquiry against the high officials and add their names in exit control list (ECL).
It is worthy to mention that the second letter sent by PPP-led government stated that the government was not interested in reopening cases against President Asif Ali Zardari and sought a reply stating the closure of cases from Swiss authorities.
The first letter which was approved by the Supreme Court was sent to Swiss authorities on November 5, 2012; however the apex court was not been made aware of the second letter.
