Diplomat attack: Pakistan summons Indian deputy HC

(Web Desk) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs today (Tuesday) summoned Indian Deputy High Commissioner Gopal Baglay in Islamabad following attack on a Pakistani diplomat in New Delhi yesterday.

 

The Foreign Office has demanded impartial inquiry into the incident, stating  hat the incident was violation of the Vienna Convention on protection of diplomats.

 

The Foreign Office has also asked the Indian government to provide protection to its diplomats.

 

Zargam Raza, the First Secretary (Trade), was going to his home in Vasant Kunj from the mission in Chanakyapuri when two persons on a motorcycle hurled abuses at him near the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus in New Delhi.

 

After heated argument, Zargam Raza and his driver were allegedly assaulted at around 6.30 pm on Monday.

 

Earlier today, Delhi police arrested two suspects after Pakistan High Commission lodged a strong protest with the Ministry of External Affairs and demanded a probe into the alleged attack.
