Summary Newly-elected members of Sindh Assembly will elect speaker, deputy speaker and chief minister today.
KARACHI (Dunya News) - The newly-elected members of the Sindh Assembly were sworn in May 29. Outgoing speaker of the Sindh Assembly Nisar Khohro administered the oath to 155 members who won the May 11 elections.
The election for chief minister, speaker and deputy speaker will be held today. Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has fielded Qaim Ali Shah for the slot of Chief Minister against Mutahidda Qaumi Movement nominee Syed Sardar Ahmed.
The PPP has nominated Agha Siraj Durani and Shehla Raza for the posts of Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively. Similarly, MQM has fielded Khuwaja Izharul Hassan for office of speaker, and Heer Sohu for deputy speaker. PML-N and PML-F have nominated Irafullah Marwat and Nusrat Saher Abbasi for the posts of Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively.
Meanwhile, 122 newly-elected members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) took oath on May 29. The election for the posts of Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be held today while the leader of the house will be elected on May 31.
Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf has fielded Asad Qaisar for the post of Speaker and Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi for Deputy Speaker slot. Similarly, JUI-F has fielded Munawwar Khan for office of speaker, and Arbab Akbar Hayyat for deputy speaker.
