ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday suspended all the postings and transfers made by the caretaker government.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muahammad Chaudhry heard the petition submitted by PML-N leader Khwaja Asif against the postings of 13 high ranking officials.

The postings include MDs of Sui Southern and Northern Gas Pipelines, Chairman NHA, Chairman NEPRA, MD Pakistan Mineral, Chairman National Fertilisers, MD OGDC, DG FIA and officers of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority.

In its verdict today‚ the apex court declared that the caretaker government has no mandate for posting and transfers of the government officials.

“Its only job was to hold general elections besides looking into daily affairs of the state,” the court announced.

The bench directed the federal government to submit its reply in the case on the next hearing on 4th of next month.
