Chinese PM arrives in Islamabad on two-day visit

Summary Chinese premier Li Keqiang reache Islamabad on a two-day official visit.

 

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Newly-elected Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang arrived in Islamabad today (Wednesday) on a two-day visit. Upon his arrival he was accorded a warm welcome.

 

Li embarked this weekend on his first foreign trip since taking office, heading to Pakistan, India, Switzerland and Germany as Beijing seeks to address security and economic disputes.

 

During his visit the Chinese Prime Minister will also hold wide ranging talks with President Zardari and caretaker Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso.

 

Afterwards, Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso will host a banquet for his Chinese counterpart.

 

The Chinese Prime Minister will also meet leader of political parties.

 

On the second day of his visit‚ President of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Mian Nawaz Sharif will call on Mr. Li Keqiang.

 

The Chinese Prime Minister will hold a joint meeting with Chairman Senate and Speaker National Assembly.

 

He will visit Pak-China Friendship Centre and plant a sapling at Shakarparian.

 

It is expected that both the countries will sign several agreements and Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) to further enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy‚ energy‚ culture and education.

 

President Zardari has also summoned the Senate session to meet on 23rd of May at 10:00 am.

 

The visit will provide an opportunity to Premier Li to meet new leadership in Pakistan and discuss ways to further strengthen and deepen bilateral ties in various fields. The visit will give new impetus to strategic relations of the two countries.

 

Deep rooted ties with China are cornerstone of Pakistan s foreign policy and both the countries have identical policies and views on major international and regional issues.
