Summary Sanaullah's condition is still very critical.

(WEB DESK) - Pakistani officials Saturday visited a Chandigarh hospital where a comatose Pakistani prisoner is being treated, said India s Ministry of External Affairs.

"Pakistani officials visited injured prisoner in Chandigarh hospital. They also met the attending doctor," said the external affairs ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin.

On Friday, India had granted three Pakistani officials consular access to Sanaullah who was attacked in a Jammu jail by a fellow prisoner. He was flown to the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh for treatment.

According to Indian media, the condition of Pakistani prisoner Sanaullah Haq is still very critical.

While a medical bulletin from doctors is still awaited, media reports said that the doctors are still trying to stablise his condition.

On the other hand, Pakistan s caretaker PM Mir Hazar Khan Khoso has asked his Indian counterpart to personally look into the incident and ensure a thorough investigation.

In a statement, Khoso expressed "deep concern" over the incident and noted that a large number of Pakistani nationals were incarcerated in Indian prisons.

He said many of these prisoners had completed their sentences but were awaiting repatriation. "It is our expectation that the Indian government would ensure the safety of all Pakistani prisoners in Indian jails and also facilitate expeditious release of all those Pakistani prisoners who have completed their jail terms," Khoso said.

He said this humanitarian issue that affected the lives of scores of people should be addressed in the spirit it deserves.
Islamabad has asked Delhi to send back Sanaullah for treatment to Pakistan.

"We have called in the Indian deputy high commissioner to the foreign ministry and lodged a protest at the attack on the Pakistani prisoner," Pakistan foreign office spokesman Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry said.

"We have also asked for his evacuation to Pakistan for treatment in Pakistan and to be close to his family members," Chaudhry said.
