KHAIRPUR (Agencies): Sawara police raided a private jail of an influential, freeing 33 haris, imprisoned for last five years.
The action was taken over a petition filed by one Waali Bhel charging am influential Sharif Mehr of nefarious practice, without even providing basic necessities of life; following which the court ordered police top raid the premises.
Out of 33 released non-Muslim haris, many of whom were in bad health, women and children were also included, out of which names of few had been identified.
The released persons included, Guddi, Sonari, Paryo Marwari, Hiresh, Nand Lal, Chandar Kumar, Shabnam Marwari, and others; all of whom would be produced in court.
The police disclosed that the influential managed to escape before the raid.
