Islamabad (Dunya News/ Agencies):-Law Minister Farooq H. Naek who‚ moved the bill said Prime Minister will be the chairman of the Authority.
Earlier‚ Raza Rabbani while giving his objection on some clauses of the bill said the Board of Governors has been made quite heavy and would require presence of all members for passing any crucial policy. He said the basic purpose of the creation of this Authority is to facilitate in sharing and exchange of intelligence between various national and provincial bodies.
The House also unanimously passed "The Election Laws (Amendment) Bill‚ 2013".
The bill provides to amend the Representation of the People Act‚ 1976 (LXXXV of 1976) and the Conduct of General Elections Order‚ 2002 (Chief Executive s Order No. 7 of 2002). It was moved by Leader of the Opposition Muhammad Ishaq Dar.
Senators Farhatullah Babar and Aitzaz Ahsan presented before the House a motion regarding the names of superior courts judges having dual nationality.
Farhatullah Babar said this issue has become important as Tahirul Qadri s petition was dismissed on the basis of his dual nationality. He said such thing should also be applicable for all including the judges.
He said the parliaments of India and US can impeach the judges and also devise their codes of conduct. He said there is imbalance here which needs to be corrected. He suggested that right of appeal be granted under article 184 of the constitution which applies to suo moto notices.
In his second suggestion‚ Farhatullah Babar said practice and regulations of judiciary be regulated under article 191.
