LAHORE: Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaurdhry has said that terrorism and sectarianism may be tackled by proper legislation.
While addressing a license-issuing ceremony of lawyers in Supreme Court registry in Lahore on Saturday, he said that the nation is passing through a crucial time due to poor law and order situation. Hundreds of thousands people have been deprived of their lives with sectarianism, terrorism and extra-judicial killings.
He added that it is dire need of hour that judiciary, executive and legislation should unanimously render their services, so that extremism, sectarianism and terrorism may be exterminated from the society.
He stressed that rule of law plays an integral role to run the society on civilized pattern. The judiciary tried to perform its due role under current laws and prescribed procedure.
He concluded that the Supreme Court is protector of the constitution and judiciary is responsible for defense of constitutional rules and regulations.
