ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani filed a review petition against his disqualification in the Supreme Court today (Saturday).
Later talking to the media persons outside Supreme Court‚ Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said he has filed the petition after taking party s chairperson and co-chairperson into confidence.
He said it was his stance that the president enjoys complete immunity both inside and outside the country under the country s constitution and Vienna Convention.
He said this very stance has also been vindicated in the letter written to the Swiss authorities.
Former premier was removed from office after his conviction in contempt of court case for not writing letter to Swiss authorities in the NRO implementation case.
Gilani reminded that he had taken the decision of not writing the letter after getting viewpoint of the federal cabinet and the legal experts.
He said his action was in the capacity of the prime minister but he was convicted as an individual‚ and now as an individual he has come to submit the review petition.
He said since the court s order has been implemented after demonstration of accommodation by the court and the government‚ therefore‚ his disqualification should also be ended.
