United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon says UN will continue to work in Pakistan and Afghanistan despite the current wave of terrorism. He said that no UN official would be called back from Pakistan and Afghanistan. The UN chief made a surprise visit to Afghanistan as international pressure mounted for a quick resolution to the country's electoral turmoil following the withdrawal of President Hamid Karzai's only challenger. Addressing a news conference in Kabul he said that current presidential dispute in Afghanistan was the most difficult problems UN had so far faced in the country. Ban Ki-moon maintained that Afghan government faced many difficult challenges and needed international support. UN is ready to work for Afghanistans development and protecting human rights there, he added. He pledged that UN would cooperate with the new Afghan government.
