Summary Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani said Pakistan would take up the issue at UN Security Council.
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has conveyed its concern to the Western diplomats and the UN Military Observers Group for India and Pakistan over repeated violation of Line of Control by Indian army‚ urging them to play their role in defusing the tension.
This was stated by Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani at a news briefing after discussions with European diplomats in Islamabad on Friday.
He said members of the diplomatic community have expressed concern over rising tension and wanted peaceful relations between Pakistan and India. He expressed the hope that they would play positive role in de-escalating the current state of violations on the LoC.
The Foreign Secretary said Pakistani defence authorities have already briefed the UN Military Observers Group about these violations.
Replying to a question whether Pakistan would take up the issue at the UN Security Council‚ the Foreign Secretary said all options are open.
To a question Jalil Abbas Jilani said democracy very well established in Pakistan with all democratic institutions working and there should be no cause of concern that incidents on the LoC would affect the democratic process. He said the international community is deeply appreciative of the democratic transition.
