Summary Case will be registered against Tahirul Qadri in case of any killing or arson during long march.

ISLAMABAD: Talking to media persons here on Thursday, Interior Minister Rehman Malik said Tahirul Qadri has not applied for NOC to hold rally in Islamabad, adding traders and residents of Islamabad have expressed strong reservations about the holding of long march in the capital.

“Residents and traders of Islamabad do not want any rally in commercial areas,” Malik said  He said threats of terrorist attacks on the participants of long march were real.

“There are many splinter groups of Taliban, and assurance to Qadri by any group does not mean that there is no threat,” he said.

He said if any killing or incident of arson took place during the long march, case will be registered against Tahirul Qadri and organizers of the long march.

He said threats have been circulated that banks will be looted on the eve of the long march, and people are taking out their assets from the lockers.

“Stringent action would be taken in case of any incident of violence,” he said, adding government would protect the lives and properties of people at every cost.

Rehman Malik urged Tahirul Qadri to reconsider his decision and not endanger the lives of his students.

Malik said Tahirul Qadri is adopting extra-constitutional means to protect the constitution.  “We are ready to talk to you but within the parameters of constitution,” he said.

He alleged that activists of Minhaj-ul-Quran were forcing people to donate for the long march and even some government servants were involved in extortion.

The interior minister said it was also the duty of the Punjab government to provide security to Tahirul Qadri. He said Qadri should not use the students of Minahj-ul- Quran for his political ambitions.
