Supreme Courts larger bench has accepted unconditioned apologies of 16 judges in contempt of court case and the contempt notices have been withdrawn against them, Dunya News Monday reported. SC adjourned the hearing till tomorrow against 11 PCO judges. A five-member bench headed by Justice Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramday remarked that it was painful to initiate action under contempt of court act against fellow judges but they should also avoid getting involved in mud slugging. The court remarked that whoever tendered apology was granted forgiveness. Apology of following judges have been accepted: Justice (R) Muhammad Afzal Somroo, Justice (R) Tariq Shamim, Justice (R) Anwar-ul-Haq, Justice (R) Muhammad Khalid Alvi, Justice (R) M Bilal Khan, Justice (R) Dr Allama Khalid Mahmood, Justice (R) Rashid Ahmad Jalandhari, Justice (R) Mian Najm-uz-Zaman, Justice (R) Afzal Miran Chohan, Justice (R) Sakhi Hussain Bokhari, Justice (R) Syed Asghar Haider, Justice (R) Muhammad Nawaz Abbasi, Justice (R) Binyamin, Justice (R) Muhammad Akram Qureshi, Justice (R) Hamid Farooq Durrani and Justice (R) Maroof Khan. Ten judges havent submitted apology. Counsels of Justice (R) Iftikhar Hussain Chaudhary, Dr Khaldi Ranjha and Justice (R) Anwar Bhindars lawyer Wasim Sajjad and Justice (R) Hamid Ali Shahs lawyer Ali Zafar gave arguments in defense of their complainants. Justice (R) Muhammad Akram Qureshi appeared before the court and apologized.
