Summary An unprecedented hike has been observed in flour prices during the last few days.
LAHORE: Pakistan has been engulfed by several crises like gas shortage, electricity loadshedding, CNG supply suspension and now the country may face flour shortage in next few days, Dunya News reported.
After the fresh increase in wheat prices, flour prices went up in local markets by Rs 5 to Rs 7 per kilogram.
Flour price has reached Rs 45 per kg with an increase of Rs 5 per kg. The commodity is being sold at Rs 38/kg in Peshawar, Rs 40/kg in Quetta and Rs 37/kg in Lahore with an increase of Rs 7/kg.
On the other hand, flour is not available at most of the utility stores across the country.
According to sources, Punjab government’s move to fix wheat quota for flour mills caused shortage of the product in the market.
